The principal activities of the Group are container transport and logistics. Container transport and logistics include global containerised shipping services in major trade lanes, covering Trans-Pacific, Trans-Atlantic, Asia/Europe, Asia/Australia and Intra-Asia trades, and integrated services over the management and control of effective storage and flow of goods.

The Group is principally engaged in the following core businesses: railway design, construction, operation, maintenance and investment in Hong Kong, Mainland China and a number of overseas cities; project management in relation to railway and property development businesses in Hong Kong and Mainland China; station commercial business including leasing of station retail space, leasing of advertising space inside trains and stations, and enabling of telecommunication services on the railway system in Hong Kong; property business including property development and investment, management and leasing management of investment properties (including shopping malls and offices) in Hong Kong and Mainland China; investment in Octopus Holdings Limited; provision of railway management, engineering and technology training; and investment in relevant new technologies.

Principally engaged in ports operation, bonded logistics operation and property investment.

As well as operating scheduled airline services, the Group is engaged in other related areas including airline catering, aircraft handling and aircraft engineering. The airline operations are principally to and from Hong Kong, which is where most of the Group’s other activities are also carried out.

Principally engaged in IL services, including storage, inventory and other value-added services, trucking and distribution, returns management and various ancillary services, primarily in Asia; and (ii) IFF services intra-Asia, between Asia and Europe and between Asia and the Americas to transport cargo using air freight, ocean freight and cross-border road freight forwarding services.

Principally engaged in the the following businesses: the provision of integrated logistics services, including provision of container transport, freight forwarding, shipping agency, depot and warehousing services; and the provision of dry bulk vessel leasing, air-freight forwarding, land leasing and other services.

The principal activities are the operation of both franchised and non-franchised public transportation, property holdings and development.

The Group's principal activities during the year are development, investment and operation of infrastructure businesses in Hong Kong, Mainland China, the United Kingdom, Continental Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United States.

Principally engaged in the ownership and international operation of modern Handysize and Supramax dry bulk ships. In addition, the Group is engaged in the management and investment of the Group's cash and deposits through its treasury activities.
